Enter Reading Terminal Market:
An historical farmers market in the heart of Philadelphia, the merchants at RTM have been selling and preparing local fare since 1892. Fresh produce stands, Pennsylvania Dutch shoe-fly pie and Spataro's Cheesesteaks are a teeny tiny sample of what RTM has to offer.

And to my surprise, The Reading Terminal Market Merchants' Catering Company can help you plan an event there! Guests would NOT be disappointed by the food or the presentation as you can choose a few merchants to keep their shops open. They can wander around and check out what the market has to offer and mingle.

The only problem is the cold cold concrete warehouse feel... and the lack of windows...(and the disapproval from everyone in the van that day). At least they agreed it would be a really cool venue for any other event!
I guess I'm just not an urban-indie kinda bride. I'll console myself in knowing that we'd counteract the eco-green organic and local fare because everyone would have to drive into Philly. Most of our guests live out in Bucks and Montgomery counties, and only one lives in Center City.
Has anyone else explored outside their wedding comfort zones in a moment of "creative inspiration?"

Um, so I don't really have anything interesting to say about creative use of outside the norm venue spaces... but after reading this entry, I really want scrapple. ;)
